I set about researching and looking at other rock crushers on the market but on my small budget it meant that I would have to build my own. So when I had a spare few minutes at work I started making it. I decided on the hammer type rotor with fixed blades of steel made out of 40 x 10 mm flat bar instead of the more popular chain type crusher.

Case model B rock crusher, started around 1912,the jaw is 10 x 20, weighs 14,000 lbs, on wood skids ,rated at 25 ton a hr. A portable was also made, with a elevator. Sold new for around $2,500 in 1921. I would think a "working"portable with elevator would be of medium/high value.
As a rule, Jaw Crushers have a 6:1 or 8:1 ratio for crushing material. Still using the 32 x 54 Jaw Crusher example, the top size of the feed entering the crushing chamber has to follow the F80 rule that 80% of the top size feed material is smaller than the gape opening.
